True story about something quite urgent and concerns everyones general health. Teflon includes a dangerous chemical that may leach out of products made with it and thus be consumed or breathed. So it potentially affects us all - not sure if this is still the case, as this story takes place around 2000.
I'm shocked that this is not already known. Instead, it is the subject of a movie. I can't imagine the chemical in Teflon is at the lethal levels covered in this story, but to learn this dangerous chemical is/was in consumer products from cookware to carpets needs to be known. Shame on DuPont and the EPA for not adequately publicizing such an important health risk.

I bless her. There is a small group of films that have taken on big corporations who have destroyed a large number of lives. Count Dark Waters as being placed in that elite genre which describes a lone (ironically) corporate lawyer who takes on chemical giant DuPont.
In this semi-documentary dramatic work, the case against DuPont in poisoning the water, land and air in and near its facilities- and extensively throughout the world- is overwhelmingly strong. One thread going through my mind while watching Dark Waters is how DuPont will react to this onslaught of evidence against them (Apparently, according one PBS article, the company has a lot of "legal folks" looking into this movie, but it doesn't want to drive more attention to the story. br> It's tough to make a several-year span lawyerly-driven movie ultra-exciting, but the M.M. Carnahan script provides enough visual stimuli (like the massive document discovery provided by DuPont that fills a large room) to move the story forward. Mark Ruffalo's steady demeanor is countered by Anne Hathaway's occasionally over the top histrionics that show the emotional toll one man was undergoing in his battle against DuPont.
Well worth your while to know how much PFOA's (via Teflon, etc) we all are carrying inside of us because of DuPont's lack of honesty.

Только что вернулся с просмотра. Билет покупал сам, так что никто не может меня обвинить во взятничестве:) Сюжет простой, не напряжный, но это идёт фильму только на пользу. Сюжет, как было сразу понятно, повествует главным образом о Харли Квин и её жизни после расставания с Джокером. Не сказать, что у него явный феминистический посыл (даже не смотря на то, что протагонистами являются только женщины/девушки, а антагонистами — белые мужчины), так что об этом переживать не стоит — сюжет вас в это дело носом тыкать не будет. Картинка приятная, достаточно цветастая, но не перенасыщенная. Хореография боёв отдаёт достаточно сильно тем, что в создании фильма учавствовали люди, ответственные за Джона Уика, но это только плюс. Музыка забойная, весёлая — надо будет найти в Спотифае потом. Диалоги брозские, с юмором. Шутки не спускаются до туалетного юмора, находятся примерно на уровне Дедпула, но чуть более сдержанные. Актёрская игра: Марго Робби отлично вжилась в роль Харли Квин (сложно избежать сравнений с Раяном Рейнальдсом и Дедпулом). Юэн МакГрегор отлично сыграл нестабильного Романа Сиониса / Чёрную Маску. Крис Мессина как Виктор Зас смотрелся очень даже неплохо (не Энтони Кэрриган в Готеме, но всё равно классно). Мэри Элизабет Уинстед в роли Охотницы — нет нареканий! То же можно сказать и про Джерни Смоллетт-Белл в роли Черной Канарейки. Элла Джей Баско в роли Кассандры Кейн — достаточно хорошо, чтобы сюжет двигался дальше, но особо без чего-то особенного. Что касается Рози Перез в роли Рене Монтойи… Скажем так — она не мешала остальным и как бы двигала сюжет вперёд. В итоге — фильм достаточно весёлый, забойный, красивый, с драйвовой музыкой, отличной хореографией боёв и актёрской игрой чтобы сделать из достаточно простого сюжета то, что можно с удовольствием посмотреть в кино. And the hero of this film is a narcissistic, violent, psychopath who loves egg sandwiches, isn’t that cute, funny quirky and irreverent, laugh! You non-progressive oppressor. Btw, in what way was she emancipated? She had no restrictions on her behavior at any point, she makes no growth as a character, the one thing she does get over is her breakup with the Joker, but we never see him or the dynamic of their relationship, no codependency, abuse, nothing hinted at that she suffered from and then later overcame through the course of the movie. Leaving all of the subtext and messaging aside, the movie on its own merit isn’t good. The villain couldn’t be any weaker and more forgettable, the characters are paper thin because there are too many of them to flesh out and the whole poop out the diamond storyline, what is this a 1980s TV show? It’s uninspired, unimaginative and dated. I can’t think of one memorable scene in this movie I liked and no I can’t get into fight scenes in which 200lb stuntmen fly around trying not to accidently hurt 120lb women in heels, makeup and wigs. How are they able to break bones or knock them out with one blow? There’s no context in terms of rigorous training or super strength or agility. No, they’re kicking their butts with feminism and if you don’t like it you must hate women. Good luck with that marketing and trying shame people into liking your movie WBs, because it worked so well with Ghostbusters. It may sound like I didn’t enjoy this film, but if it had a little bit more narration it might have swayed me, there were 2mins or so of screen time in which there wasn’t any narration either telling me what I was about to see with my own eyes or trying to fill in holes in the swiss cheese storyline in postproduction. At least Suicide Squad was just a bad movie, this is a bad movie that makes you feel like Alex in a Clockwork Orange. His right hand goon is known as Zsasz (Chris Messina). He doesn’t get a cute nickname. The crux of the story involves a large diamond expected to be delivered to Sionis. He sends Zsasz to pick it up along with Harley but Zsasz gets his pocket picked by a young girl named Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) who lives in the same building as Dinah Lance aka Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell). Dinah is a singer at Sionis’s nightclub and later his driver. She, like most of the ladies, is pretty adept at various forms of martial arts. Rosie Perez plays a police detective named Renee Montoya who is suspended for crossing her boss. Finally, Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays Helena Bertinelli aka The Huntress. Her crime family was slaughtered by an opponent but was saved by one of the men and whisked off to Italy to be raised as a killer by his family. Her special skill is using a cross-bow. Alas she is one of the more interesting but less utilized characters. Harley gets most of the screen time of course and Robbie makes the most of it. Her action sequences are well done if improbable. In the most consequential scene, Harley, Renee, The Huntress, Black Canary gather in an amusement park where they must join forces to not only save Cassandra who still has the diamond but their own lives. They with few weapons will have to take out Sionis and about 100 heavily armed men with bulging biceps. Stretching reality a bit don’t you think, even for a comic book based movie? My biggest issue with the film has a lot to do with the audience rating and the lack of good one liners. The film is rated “R” because of a few language issues and some bone cracking legs and one scene (nothing graphic) where Zsasz relieves another crime lord of his face. Clearly the film is going to miss one portion of its target audience. So if you are OK with an “R” why not amp up the raunchy comedic elements ala “Deadpool”? Harley would certainly be up for the task given some better writing. There’s little sexual references other than Renee’s funny t-shirt and a few requisite kicks to a man’s nether regions. Robbie and McGregor’s breezy performances keep us entertained but this could have been much better.

Finally, the flick is kind of racist. Almost every character makes some kind of racist remark, mainly against members of Asian and Black communities, and it's often used for supposed 'humour. The worst offence is probably when a major character says another has a 'black heart' while specifically referencing race. The flick's treatment of women isn't much better, with the only female character coming under the threat of rape just so she can be violently saved by a white man. It all feels outdated, like someone scrambling against apparent 'PC gone mad. Plus, a lot of time is strangely spent trying to justify its problematic elements; characters have discussions about whether or not certain racist remarks are actually racist. All of this results in an affair that only sours with time, staying in your mind just long enough for you to consider its faults and then slipping away into complete obscurity. It's really forgettable, probably because it's so generic. It's not terrible, though. As I mentioned, it's often quite enjoyable and it's always engaging. Hugh Grant's scene-stealing performance is a real highlight, too. It's messy and misjudged but it's entertaining enough to keep you in your seat. 5/10.
